For people from South Asia living in Japan, it is a place to find the essentials for everyday cooking. For people in Japan, it is a starting point for making real curry or biryani at home. Everyone is welcome to drop in.

Starting out with spices
If you would like to try cooking with spices but are not sure where to begin, here are some of the basics.
- CUMIN
Cumin
The heart of the classic curry aroma. Warm it in oil first to release its fragrance.
- TURMERIC
Turmeric
Gives dishes a bright yellow colour. A small amount is enough for colour and flavour.
- CORIANDER
Coriander
A fresh, gentle aroma. Combined with cumin it adds depth to a dish.
- CHILLI
Chilli
Adds heat. Adjust the amount to suit your family's taste.
- GARAM MASALA
Garam masala
A blend of several spices. Add it at the end for a richer aroma.
- CARDAMOM
Cardamom
An elegant, sweet aroma used in biryani, chai and desserts.
